Aggressive Racing to be Seen in Hungary?

Fans of Formula 1 have certainly been treated to a very exciting 2021 racing season, after years of what many had considered to be quite dull and samey with silver arrows dominance, there’s something new on the horizon as Red Bull have managed to close the gap and even take a lead – those who have been betting on Red Bull through the biggest services on the best casinos amongst many others would’ve certainly been grinning from ear to ear, at least until last weekend.

It isn’t all that common to see really big crashes in the sport anymore, not only have driving styles changed but the tech within the cars help prevent the bigger accidents and so when the big accidents do happen, there’s always a little shock involved too. The clash between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen at Silverstone certainly was a big one, with numbers being quoted that Verstappen hit the wall with 51G of force, certainly a huge impact. Whilst much of the focus has been around whose fault it was, whether or not it was a racing incident, and whether the 10-second penalty that was given to Hamilton was enough – but other experts have been looking at something else by saying that a big accident like this was almost inevitable at some point, both drivers have been looking more aggressive and racing much closer together, and with neither wanting to give an inch in the championship standings, a coming together was all but guaranteed.

With some long fast sections followed by some closer racing in the corners, Hungary much like Silverstone is another very fast track, and with the Mercedes starting to look a little faster from this past weekend than they have done on the more technical circuits, it could bring both Hamilton and Verstappen closer together once again – if both are racing upfront in clean air, this close and aggressive racing will certainly come back. Max has certainly matured as a driver and whilst still very aggressive, no longer holds the ‘Crashstappen’ moniker that he once did but may have a point to prove after last weekend. Similarly, Hamilton has typically been more measured and safe, but with the championship being so close may be prone to taking some more risks or doing moves that he may not otherwise do and could further fuel this aggressive racing.

The hope is certainly that things will stay clean and will only fuel more good racing, but a big crash like this does leave a sour taste in the mouth of some,  and may lead to further questions around what’s to be expected in the back half of the season as the gap closes and the points become much closer.
